Color
and Decor: Best Practices
Almost
every design technique consists
of a second and sometimes a
third color. Often the walls,
or the area of greatest square
footage uses the focal color.
This component serves to set
the decorative tone from which
all others are based upon. Focal
colors can manifest as a flat
or gloss color or even by a
specialized technique.
The second color provides the
hue for the molding, or other
area that is directly less than
the square footage of the walls.
The way the secondary color
combines with the base will
speak volumes of the overall
appeal and design direction
of the structure.
If used, the third color will
often times be the one that
is used the least. It's core
focus needs to be to accent
both the base and accent colors
equally, bringing an overall
balance to the scheme.
