Troweling with Textured Lime Wash

Step One:
Apply Base Coat

Step Two:
Roll on Lime Wash using a special Texture Roller Cover, working 4 x 4 foot sections. Apply randomly, allowing much of the Base Coat to show through and creating a "stipple" pattern. Lime Wash will begin to dry in about 10 minutes. Do not allow it to dry completely before moving to Step 3.

Step Three:
Knock down the texture using a 6" wallboard trowel. Using a gentle touch, slide the trowel over the Lime Washed surface, ideally knocking off just the tips of the stipple left by the texture roller. Be careful not to gouge the Lime Washed surface with the corners of the trowel. Blend adjacent 4’ x 4’ areas together before the Lime Wash dries completely to avoir "seams".

Step Four:
Allow Lime Wash to dry overnight. To further highlight your troweled surface, over glaze with Translucent Color, Opal, Pearl, or Metallic Glazes. Using the Color Washing Brush, apply your desired glaze in a random pattern, allowing your brush to completely dry out before reloading with additional glaze. Soften brush marks with a cheesecloth if desired.

Professional Tip: For best results practice this technique before you begin.
